From the right label
to real-time transparency
RFID delivers its value not at a single point, but along the entire chain: at the label, in printing and when reading. Anyone who aligns these three building blocks cleanly gains inventory accuracy, automated processes and end-to-end visibility.
What RFID delivers, stage by stage
The value does not arrive all at once. It grows with every stage, and each stage builds on the one before.
Inventory accuracy
No more guesswork: RFID delivers stocktakes in a fraction of the time and significantly increases inventory accuracy. The foundation for availability and fewer stock discrepancies.
Process automation
Goods receipt, transfers and shipping are booked automatically via bulk capture. Fewer manual scans, fewer errors, faster throughput times.
End-to-end transparency
Continuous visibility across all stations, right through to real-time localisation. A reliable data basis for decisions along the entire supply chain.
The value chain in four steps
RFID operates in the UHF range and allows many objects to be captured simultaneously without line of sight. For this to work reliably in practice, every step has to be right.
The right label and inlay
It all starts with the label. Material, adhesive, form factor and the RFID chip determine read range and reliability. Smooth cardboard has different requirements than metallic or moist surfaces. For metal, special on-metal labels are used.
Printing and encoding in a single step
RFID printers print the label visibly and encode the chip in the same operation. The result is a label that is both human-readable and machine-readable. From compact desktop devices through industrial printers to mobile printing at the point of use, Zebra covers the entire range.
Reading, fixed and mobile
When reading, the label becomes information in the system. Mobile handheld readers are suited to stocktaking and selective capture. Fixed readers, antennas and portals capture bulk quantities automatically at gates, conveyor lines or at the point of sale. Array readers additionally determine the position of a label in real time.
Data, integration and value
The real value emerges when the read points are connected to the ERP system. This requires a clean master data foundation. Bookings run automatically, stock levels are accurate, and movement data turns into decisions. This is exactly where OPAL combines hardware, labels and software into one end-to-end process – vendor-independent and tailored to your system landscape.
OPAL as a strategic and technical partner
Technology alone does not make a working RFID project. What counts is the interplay of the right label, correctly configured hardware and clean integration. OPAL supports you across all four steps, with Zebra as a proven hardware partner.
Strategy
Use-case analysis, business case and roadmap along your processes.
Technology
Label selection, printing and encoding, reader infrastructure and on-site testing.
Integration
Connection to ERP and middleware, so that read points become processes.
Operation
Service, support and scaling as the solution grows within your company.
