With end-user operating systems such as Android entering the professional environment, OS updates are becoming more frequent and more important – and they are no longer always free of charge. Maintenance contracts keep these costs calculable.
THE CHALLENGE
Operating system updates are no longer free
Manufacturers no longer always provide operating system updates free of charge. Without a plan, necessary updates can turn into incalculable costs over time. To prevent this, we strongly recommend concluding a maintenance contract.
Keep in mind: manufacturers have not been selling replacement parts for several years already, and repair flat rates are nearly as pricey as new equipment. Compared to that, standard maintenance contracts are the clearly more economical choice.

THE SOLUTION
Maintenance contracts exclusively for the operating system
For customers who prefer to carry the repair risk themselves, some manufacturers now offer maintenance contracts that cover the operating system only. Once such a contract is concluded, operating system updates are delivered free of charge – the only way to ensure smooth operations of your system in the long term.
GOOD TO KNOW
Why you should avoid “automatic updates”
We expressly warn against activating the “automatic updates” flag available on most mobile devices. It seems reasonable at first – but application developers do not receive pre-release versions of new operating systems, so smooth operation of your applications on an updated OS is not guaranteed.
Therefore, always ask the manufacturer of an application for which OS version and device configuration their app was released. And remember: downgrading a once updated operating system is always costly and in some cases even impossible.
FOR YOUR BUSINESS
We test your application before you update
Upon request, we test your application for your desired combination of hardware components and operating systems. This additional security step is the only way to avoid the risk of your employees suddenly facing business-critical system failures.
