Epson ColorWorks C4000, C6000 and C8000e
Key facts

With a ColorWorks printer, the complete colour label is produced in one pass: logo, colour areas, images and variable data such as batch or barcode. Stocks of pre-printed label rolls can then be dropped. All three models use a PrecisionCore printhead and print up to 108 mm wide. They differ in speed, roll size, output and form factor.
For existing environments, the ZPL II emulation matters: templates that run on a thermal printer today can in many cases be reused and enhanced with colour; we test this with you. For accurate colours, the shop names ICC profiles and a spot colour matching tool for the C4000. We set up printing from your ERP system with OPAL Labelmanagement™.

When colour is part of the information, for example logos, warning symbols or colour codes, a ColorWorks printer is the right choice. For black and white labels in high volumes and for RFID, a thermal transfer industrial printer such as the ZT411 is faster and needs no ink. The two often complement each other: colour labels from the ColorWorks, shipping and warehouse labels from the thermal printer. Go to Zebra ZT411 / ZT421

Frequently asked questions
How durable are the colour labels?
The C4000 and C8000e print with pigment ink; according to the shop, the C8000e ink is water- and smudge-resistant. How long a label lasts depends heavily on the label material. For requirements such as chemical or abrasion resistance, we test ink and material with you.
Glossy or matte black ink: which do I need?
The BK version uses glossy black ink, the MK version matte black ink. According to the shop, the matte variant suits textured stock and plain paper. The choice depends on the label material you use.
Can I keep using my ZPL templates?
The C4000 and C8000e offer ZPL II emulation, the C6000 is ZPL II compatible. In many cases, existing templates can be taken over and enhanced with colour. We test your templates before the changeover.
What is the difference between the C6000Ae and C6000Pe?
The C6000Ae cuts labels with an automatic cutter. The C6000Pe has an integrated peeler that separates the label from the liner and is designed for print-and-apply systems.
Which model suits which volume?
According to the shop, the C4000 and C6000 are designed for small to medium runs, and the C6000 takes rolls up to 8 inches. The C8000e prints at up to 300 mm/s and uses high-capacity ink packs for high volumes. We recommend the model based on your label quantities and formats.
