Security and asset labels

Asset labels mark equipment permanently and have to survive cleaning and everyday use. According to the shop, the security label in PE silver destroys a chequered pattern when removed, while the AINV kit uses paper with a plastic laminate; both have an extra-permanent adhesive and come with a special ribbon. For rating plates there are silver film kits that, according to the shop, are UL certified together with the supplied ribbons.

Asset labels carry the asset number and barcode and should remain legible throughout the asset’s service life. Both OPAL asset labels have an extra-permanent adhesive and, according to the shop, are smudge-proof and resistant to most cleaning agents. The AINV kit consists of paper with a plastic laminate, the security label of PE silver with a security function: according to the shop, a chequered pattern is destroyed when the label is removed, and on some surfaces a chequered imprint also remains. This prevents the label from being moved to another object unnoticed.

Both kits contain one roll and a special ribbon for thermal transfer printing. For rating plates, the shop offers the MMA and MMi kits in permanently adhesive silver film which, according to the shop, are UL certified together with the supplied ribbons. How the labels fit into an inventory process with mobile capture and reconciliation in the ERP system is described on our Asset inventory page.

For asset inventories, the extra-permanent adhesive and, on the security label, the destructible pattern are decisive: a removed label is noticed. Where only a durable label without tamper evidence is needed, a standard PE film with resin ribbon is sufficient. Go to thermal transfer labels and ribbons

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How can I tell whether a security label has been removed?

According to the shop, a chequered pattern in the label is destroyed when it is removed. On some surfaces a chequered imprint also remains. The label therefore cannot be moved to another object unnoticed.

Security label or AINV kit: which fits better?

Both are made for asset inventories and have an extra-permanent adhesive. The security label in PE silver shows tampering through its destructible pattern. No such protection is stated for the AINV kit in paper with plastic laminate; it fits when durable, legible marking is enough.

Do the labels withstand cleaning?

According to the shop, both asset labels are smudge-proof and resistant to most cleaning agents. The shop does not name individual cleaning agents. If you use special agents, test a sample beforehand.

Which ribbon do I need?

Both asset kits include a special ribbon: the security label a smudge-proof ribbon 1/2 inch wide, the AINV kit the i900RY-4 with a 12.5 mm core and 74 m length. Check whether your printer accepts this ribbon width.

Which printers do the kits run on?

Both kits have a 25 mm core, the AINV kit an outer diameter of 110 mm. For the security label the shop names smaller label printers; for the AINV kit it gives a list including the OPAL OD5 and OD9 and Zebra models. Tell us your printer model and we will check the combination.

How does an asset inventory with these labels work?

Each asset receives a label with asset number and barcode. During the inventory, staff capture the labels with a mobile device and the data is reconciled with the ERP system. Our Asset inventory page describes the process and the right software.
