Franz Binder GmbH & Co. Elektrische Bauelemente KG relies for the labelling of its products entirely on the SAP®-integrated OPAL LABELMANAGEMENT™, which simplifies the creation and approval of new labels and significantly reduces the number of variants.
Challenge
binder's previous label system required a CSV data file for every label, which had to be provided as an SAP® export. This file supplied the previous labelling software with the relevant data for the print job. This integration placed high demands on the interface in terms of timing and data integrity whenever labels were changed.
Conclusion
Since the changeover, around 30 per cent of the approximately 1,000 existing layouts have already been migrated to the new system, simplified or eliminated.
With the new options offered by the OPAL solution and its convenient label designer, the flood of variants will be reduced in the medium term from 1,000 to between 250 and 300 versions.
Alongside the automated provision of content, the efficient design of the labels is another positive effect of the project. The simple insertion of new data fields is the result of the full integration of OPAL LABELMANAGEMENT™ into the SAP ® system used at binder.
