Mobile Device Management

Mobile in action.
Centrally managed.

Manage, secure and roll out mobile devices centrally. From initial setup to remote maintenance, so your fleet keeps running.

Why mobile device management?

Equipping staff with mobile devices is helpful, but setup and support without the right tools is time-consuming. SOTI MobiControl is one of the most widely used mobile device management solutions and supports Windows, Android and iOS. On request, OPAL delivers it entirely as a service.

THE FEATURES

What SOTI MobiControl delivers

Intelligent rule management

New employees, promotions, transfers and departures: rules for individuals or groups make rollouts faster, easier and more cost-effective.

Platform-independent

Notebook, smartphone, tablet, BYOD or company-owned, Android, Windows or iOS. SOTI is device-independent and certifies devices even before procurement.

Over-the-air app distribution

Distribute, control and update applications according to your policies, without collecting devices and without interrupting work.

Security & content

A secure browser provides access to company data and documents. If a device is lost, you can wipe all data at the touch of a button.

THE COMPONENTS

Ready to go quickly

A free deployment server acts as the central control unit; setup usually takes half a day to a full person-day. Alternatively, the server can run in the cloud, or you can obtain the entire solution as a service from OPAL and receive regular reports on the condition of your devices.

MobiControl must be installed on the devices. Many manufacturers such as Zebra ship it pre-installed, so scanning a barcode is enough to set up the device.

LICENSING

Four models, one recommendation

Licence purchase

From 10 licences, expandable in steps of 5, plus maintenance per year. We recommend not cancelling maintenance, otherwise expansion with new devices is not possible.

Subscription

From 10 licences, expandable in steps of 5, price per month including maintenance.

Cloud

Like the subscription, with hosting of the deployment server on Amazon in Frankfurt.

As a service from OPAL

From 10 licences. OPAL handles hosting and device support. A flat monthly fee including up to 3 updates per year and weekly status reports.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about mobile device management.

Mobile device management is the central administration of mobile devices from a single console. Instead of setting up every smartphone, tablet or handheld scanner individually, IT distributes configurations, apps and security policies to the entire fleet remotely. It is needed wherever mobile devices have to stay productive in daily operations: in warehousing, production, logistics and field service. MDM makes sure devices arrive ready to use, stay up to date and can be locked if one is lost.
SOTI MobiControl is an MDM platform for managing mobile devices in enterprise use. It provides rule-based policy management, works across Android, iOS and Windows, distributes apps and operating system updates over the air, and covers security and content management. Devices can be rolled out preconfigured, monitored centrally and locked or wiped remotely if lost. OPAL is a SOTI partner and sets the platform up around the customer processes.
Through an MDM console in which every device is enrolled. New devices are rolled out preconfigured and enrol themselves on first start, so no manual setup on site is required. Central policies then control app installations, operating system updates and access rights for all devices at once. If a device fails, its configuration is transferred automatically to the replacement. This works for smartphones, tablets, handheld scanners and forklift terminals together.
MDM manages the device itself: configuration, updates and security. EMM, enterprise mobility management, additionally covers apps, content and identities and is therefore the broader approach. Kiosk mode is not a separate category but an operating mode within MDM or EMM: the device is restricted to one or a few applications and everything else is locked. In warehousing, kiosk mode is often used so scanners show the logistics application only.
Yes. Alongside licence purchase, subscription and cloud operation, OPAL offers mobile device management as a service: OPAL handles setup, operation and ongoing support of the platform, and the customer uses it without needing in-house expertise. This includes rollout of preconfigured devices, updates, monitoring and device replacement. The service is set up vendor-independently and can be combined with maintenance and support for the hardware.
